Over the year we have been practising how to login to the ‘older’ Stome laptops and now the New Dell laptops. Then get to the blog and click links. Today Mr Connolly wants to see you are ready for Year 2 by all children logging in all by themselves!
If you manage it, you can pick one of the games below to play. Remember you might need to read the instructions!
Computers can be used to model or simulate real life, they can be games or even science experiments. As long as the computer has the right information it can model what would happen. As it is in a virtual world time can be sped up so a few minutes can become a few weeks or months!
Computers are a great way of finding out lots of information. Today in computing we are using the skills we have learned this half term to log on to the computer, use headphones and click on a link from the blog to find out all about the festival of Diwali that takes place over the holiday next week.
Discovery education can be used at home, but you need to log in, but in school we can go directly.

Next week is a very important week for Christians – Holy Week. The week before Easter. Mr Connolly will be leading the assembly so we need to know a little about it before hand. So we are going to use the links to find out lots.
We are having the whole of the Christmas Festival off this year – from the 25th of December until 6th January! As a class let’s use the power of the Internet to find out more about this special time of year for Christians.

Each week we get better at the tricky task of logging the computer on.
It is hard as we have to use both hands to press 3 buttons at the same time!
Hold Ctrl (Finger) Alt (Thumb) reach over and press DEL (other hand)
This skill we will practise lots of times in Year 1 because we need to be able to logon all on our own.
Once we have log on we are using some useful games from the BBC to practise controlling the mouse/touch pad or clicking – again this hand to eye coordination is very tricky for young children – a touch screen is much easier.
