Holbrook Primary – Year 1

Look what we are learning.

Preparing for Chinese New Year

This week we have been learning about the continent of Asia. We named and located the continent and its surrounding oceans on a map. Can you locate Asia and remember the oceans names?

We have also learnt that one country within Asia is China. We have learnt that they celebrate their New Year at a different time to us. We will be doing a Year 1 assembly on Chinese New Year soon as so have been learning about different ways they celebrate. We have started to make dragon masks for our assembly and large dragon for our dragon dance.

Can you practise singing our Chinese New Years song at home for our assembly?

Staying safe

We have been learning about how to stay safe in and out of school by having two special visitors. Two very nice police men came into Year 1 to help us learn about how to stay safe crossing the road, staying away from water and what to do in an emergency. Have a look at us and police man Pete!
