All children have been given 2 boxes. They can fill these up and bring them to school everyday.

The green box is for vegetables and the orange box is for fruit.

The children have done really well and have turned into super healthy food dudes. A big thank you to all the parents who are supporting their children with being healthy at school and at home.

The children are rewarded daily with a tick on their cards.

Maths!

Mrs Labram’s group went on a number hunt today. We all chose a number and then had to explore the playground looking for the number which was 1 less.
We also sang counting songs like ’10 fat sausages’ that helped us to count back from 10. Click on the link and you can learn the song too!

Sharing.

In RE and PSHE we looked at something we all can find tricky – SHARING. We read the story of the Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. If you liked the story you could borrow it from the library or you can listen again online. We then coloured in our own fish but we only had one colour each so we had to share with each other to colour them in neatly with four different colours.

Money, money, money!

In Mrs Labram’s maths group, today, we have been learning about money. We identified different coins and then used them to buy things from our ‘shop’. We were also able to recognise when two purses contained the same amount of money even if the coins were different!

If you go to the shops during half term, have a look at the prices of different items and think about what coins you could use to pay for them.

Here’s a money problem to think about. How many different ways can you make 10p using 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p coins?

More problem solving!

We are amazing at problem solving! This time we tried to make 8 in as many ways as we could with dominoes!

Problem solving at home

Have a go at creating your own problems at home. Here are some ideas…

The family is having dinner. We need 4 forks and 4 knifes. How many knifes and forks do we need altogether?

20140212-203159.jpg

I have 10p. If I share if between you and your sister how much will you get each?

20140212-203311.jpg

If you bought 13 sweets and I ate 7, how many would you have left?

Maths!

In maths this week, Mrs Labram’s group have been learning about position. We have been using the words ‘up’, ‘down’, ‘on’ and ‘under’. We described the position of our prints on the grid. Have a look at home and see if you can describe the position of different objects using our key words.
